Meet Olga Padilla and José Padilla, the owners of My Gym North San Antonio

How did you discover My Gym?

Olga took her first child when he was 9 months old to a free class at the My Gym in Frisco, Texas, and she was hooked.  

Tell us about yourself. 

Olga grew up in the middle of Siberia.  In the deep dark cold, she trained hard from the age of 6 to eventually become a national champion level in the Olympic sport of rhythmic gymnastics.  Afterwards, she joined a competitive dance team that won competitions nationally and around the world.  After meeting her husband José, she moved to the US where she has coached rhythmic gymnastics in Dallas, Las Vegas and currently in San Antonio.  

José grew up in Dallas, Texas, as the son of immigrants from Honduras.  He was the first in his family to graduate from high school, went on to graduate with honors from Harvard College, and then received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  He has worked as a corporate lawyer for the past 20 years.  He loves to travel and to dance.  He has visited over 60 countries, speaks 5 languages, and used to compete in salsa dancing.  

Together, they have 4 beautiful kids all under age 6 – Jose, Katerina, Alexander and Anna. The whole family is ready to be a part of My Gym and to bring more moments that matter to San Antonio!

What are your hobbies? How do you and your family like to spend your time?

Right now, Olga and José are so busy with the three young kids.  But when they used to have free time, the couple enjoyed going out dancing salsa and to travel.  José has the goal to visit every country in the world.. so far he has visited 60.  José actually met Olga in Siberia on one of his travels.  Even though the kids are all so young, each has visited at least 8 countries.  Traveling is definitely in the family’s blood!  

Olga also enjoys eating sushi, watching movies, and getting to know new people in her newly adopted country.  She definitely loves winter here in San Antonio much better than back in Siberia.  She also continues to coach rhythmic gymnastics for girls.

José is also kept busy by his law practice representing investors, startups, as well as healthcare companies. Growing up, he played the trombone in marching band.  He was an avid fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, and to complete his nerd credentials, he also collected comic books.  Things which he may or may not admit to still enjoying.

What are you most excited about in bringing My Gym to your city?

Olga and José are most excited to bring fun and fitness to the kids of San Antonio.  Olga’s childhood experience with fitness and sports taught her how “fitness made fun” can bring a lifetime of confidence and good habits!   They also look forward to how My Gym helps make new connections and friendships throughout the community by helping to create moments that matter for parent and child.
