Meet Robin and Laura, the new owners of My Gym Sandhills

How did you discover My Gym?

Laura first discovered My Gym after moving to Hawaii with her husband. She was looking for a job and found My Gym and it couldn’t have been a better fit. She eventually became the gym director and also worked at their second location that opened. After moving to Georgia, Laura’s son Xander started classes at My Gym Columbus and eventually she started working part time. 

Robin worked at My Gym in Columbus Georgia while she attended college. The gym was fairly new to the area and she loved her time being a part of a growing business that provided an active, fit, and fun program for kids. Robin and Laura met in Aberdeen NC and quickly realized their My Gym connection. It wasn’t long before they decided to open a gym in their community and are thrilled to be a part of My Gym. 

Tell us about yourself. 

Laura grew up in southern Illinois but shortly after graduating high school she moved to Orlando to participate in the Disney College Program and ended up never leaving. She grew up dancing and tumbling so after being around the magic of Disney she knew she wanted to pursue a career making that magic for families. Her first professional dance job was dancing for the NBA for the Orlando Magic. Then went on to the entertainment field at Walt Disney World, Sea World, and was honored to be selected as the opening cast of Hong Kong Disneyland. After meeting her husband (who is military) they moved to Hawaii where they got married. After a couple more stops they have landed here in the Sandhills with their two kids Xander and Leila. Laura is so excited to begin her own My Gym  experience with her business partner Robin. 

Robin grew up in Georgia where she met and married her husband Jon. Robin received a BA in Communication from Columbus State University where she also received her commission as an Officer is the US Army Reserves. She served 14 years in the Signal Branch and spent 2 years in Space Operations. She is incredibly proud of her service and continues to support the Military community as an Active Duty Spouse. Robin and her husband have lived all over the US and had countless adventures with their 3 daughters, Sydney, Adelaide and Renmark (Remy). 

What are your hobbies? How do you and your family like to spend your time?

As far as hobbies go for Laura, she likes to play around on her yoga trapeze, work on Pinterest crafts, and take dance classes whenever she can. And when the family is all together on the weekends they love to try new restaurants around town but their favorite thing to do is order pizza and watch a movie together. And when the weather gets cooler they love to sit around their fire pit and enjoy the evenings. Robin is an avid runner and enjoys fitness classes of almost any variety. She is a busy member of the PTA at her daughter’s school and loves spending time with other moms. Robin enjoys hiking and taking trips with her family. 

What are you most excited about in bringing My Gym to your city?

Laura and Robin are excited to bring the fun of fitness to the younger generation here in the Sandhills. They have made so many lifelong friendships because of My Gym and are excited to see new friendships form between parents and children at the new facility.
