My Gym was born out of our passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. We delighted in seeing children's eyes light up for all those incredible milestones, from the tentative first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Sharing the parents’ excitement at their children’s accomplishments was the high point of our day.
Picture this: In 1983, three fitness enthusiasts—Yacov, Susi Sherman, and Bill Caplin—redefined children's fitness by blending dance, gymnastics, and athletics. That's the birth of My Gym! Their mission: create a space just for kids—no more sharing mom's or dad's gym, but My Gym. With backgrounds in dance, gymnastics, and athletics, they crafted a unique fitness curriculum focused on non-competitive skill building for ages 6 weeks to 14 years. Fast forward: Cory and Monique turned My Gym into a franchise sensation in 1994. The success was undeniable, growing from 100 kids to over 400 in a year. Now a global phenomenon, My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide.

We’re Ana and Mike, proud owners of the upcoming My Gym Children’s Fitness Center in Edgewater! Our journey with My Gym began when our son, struggling to socialize at 18 months, had a transformational experience at a My Gym. He loved it, we loved the structure and social interaction, and the physical development was an added bonus. Now five, he’s still a happy My Gym kid! We prize meaningful interactions with children, whether with our son, nieces, nephews, or friends' kids. Living just blocks from the gym, we cherish the vibrant community of families in Edgewater and know firsthand how My Gym fosters lasting friendships for both kids and parents. When we're not at My Gym, you’ll find us outdoors at the zoo, beach, parks, or BBQs, embracing new experiences. Edgewater, Mid-Town, Downtown, Wynwood are booming with families, yet nothing like My Gym exists here, until now! Our Gym Director combines her passion for children’s development, wellness, and community. Originally from Venezuela, she earned her law degree before moving to Miami. Living in such an active city inspired her love for running and a healthy lifestyle. Mariana discovered her true passion for education and personal growth, becoming a certified Montessori teacher with over eight years of experience helping kids grow with confidence and independence. As a mom to an amazing boy, she understands the importance of balance, health, and leading by example, values she brings into both her personal life and her work at My Gym Edgewater. Passionate about nurturing families, Mariana is dedicated to creating a supportive community where moms and kids can connect, thrive, and grow together as one big family.
We are proud to introduce one of our dedicated Assistant Coaches, whose passion for working with children and commitment to personal growth make her an invaluable part of our team. With years of experience practicing jiu-jitsu, Lia not only excels as a practitioner but has also spent time as a coach before joining our team. She brings a strong foundation of discipline, focus, and perseverance into her coaching, encouraging children to build confidence, stay active, and develop both physically and mentally in a supportive environment. In addition to her role as a coach, she is currently pursuing her goal of becoming a nutritionist. Her interest in health and wellness reflects her desire to support others in leading balanced and healthy lifestyles.
