My Gym was born out of our passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. We delighted in seeing children's eyes light up for all those incredible milestones, from the tentative first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Sharing the parents’ excitement at their children’s accomplishments was the high point of our day.
Picture this: In 1983, three fitness enthusiasts—Yacov, Susi Sherman, and Bill Caplin—redefined children's fitness by blending dance, gymnastics, and athletics. That's the birth of My Gym! Their mission: create a space just for kids—no more sharing mom's or dad's gym, but My Gym. With backgrounds in dance, gymnastics, and athletics, they crafted a unique fitness curriculum focused on non-competitive skill building for ages 6 weeks to 14 years. Fast forward: Cory and Monique turned My Gym into a franchise sensation in 1994. The success was undeniable, growing from 100 kids to over 400 in a year. Now a global phenomenon, My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide.

Hi, I'm Margie Meltzer, and I'm thrilled to be the owner of MyGym La Jolla! With over 20 years of experience working with children in a Montessori setting, I've developed a deep passion for helping little ones learn, grow and thrive.
Originally from New York, my family and I now call beautiful San Diego home. We love spending our time outdoors, whether it's at the beach, hiking or just enjoying the sunshine. As a Mom to two kiddos, I understand how important it is to create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment for kids- something I'm committed to bringing to My Gym everyday.

Hi, I’m Alex! I’m originally from the East Coast but had the incredible experience of living in Japan, which definitely added some adventure to my story. I’m a proud parent of four awesome kids—three adopted and one biological—so life is always lively and full of surprises. Before joining the company in March 2022, I served in the Navy, where I picked up a strong sense of teamwork, resilience, and a can-do attitude. I love bringing that energy into everything I do and connecting with people along the way!
Originally from the Inland Empire, I’ve spent several years working with children and am passionate about creating a fun, supportive environment where every child can learn and grow with confidence. I am currently majoring in Education at the University of California, San Diego, and I absolutely love being part of the My Gym family! For the past 2 years, building connections with our kids and their families has been my favorite part of the job!
Hi! I've always wanted to be a teacher and have found that within My Gym. I've been a part of the My Gym team since 2018. I grew up participating in gymnastics and love helping kids build confidence while celebrating those awesome "lightbulb moments" when a new skill finally clicks! When I'm not cheering kids on through obstacle courses or performing a puppet show- I'm probably crafting, adding another water bottle to my collection, or reminding everyone that frogs are the best animal :)
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma with a lifelong desire of living near the coast, I am happy to be living out my dream in San Diego. I’m currently taking Early Childhood Education classes, with my overall goal being to help children learn and grow in a fun and effective way!
Coach Greg is a retired Navy pilot with a passion for discipline, focus, and mentorship. With over 20 years of experience in Taekwondo and Filipino martial arts, he brings a unique blend of precision, strength, and real-world self-defense skills to every class. Coach Greg is dedicated to empowering the next generation—helping kids build confidence, sharpen their focus, and develop lifelong skills both on and off the mat.
