DANCE RECITAL PARENT INFORMATION

WHEN 
Recital is Saturday, May 3rd
Show starts at 10:00am - Recital run time is approx. 1.5 hours. 
Dancers should arrive by 9:20 and proceed to check in at their designated time. Please do not enter the actual auditorium until the doors open by a staff member around 9:20-9:25am. Please feed the dancers before recital! Before doors open, we ask that you wait in the lobby of the auditorium so we can ensure a quick setup on our end. We have a very small window of time to get everything in place for a successful show. If you need something on the day of, please text the Lake Mary phone number (407-333-8069) and we will see it :)

TICKETS & SEATING
Tickets were included in your recital fees. There is plenty of space for all of your family and friends to come and watch and no physical ticket is needed. NOTE - No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium!

CHECK IN & OUT SAFETY PROTOCOL
When every parent knows what the protocols are, it helps all of our dancers stay safe!  We have a large number of dancers participating in Dance Recital, it's a big responsibility to keep track of everyone and ensure everyone is going home with the right party: it's one we take very seriously.  
CHECK IN :
Doors open at 9:20ish. We stagger check in to help things flow more easily. At the designated check in time, there will be an announcement & you will receive a text reminder to head to the check in area with your dancer & anything they might need for their dances. They will head back into the holding area once you check them in at the table and remain there throughout recital. 
9:30 - Level 2 & 3 classes and Tuesday 3:20
9:40 - Level 1 & Beginner classes
9:50 - Preschool & Tutu Tots classes
 Check out: After the show, please help us out by waiting for your dancer to exit down the side stairs, they will be dismissed by age group. This is for the safety of our dancers and for us to know that each child is back with their families :)

HAIR & MAKEUP
We want the recital to be a stress free day and we know how much stress hair and makeup can often add to this! Please use hairspray or gel to help keep it in place for the duration of recital. Makeup is encouraged for all dancers. 

COSTUMES & CHANGES
Please be sure all shoes, costumes, & accessories have their name listed somewhere on them, that way if something is left behind we know who to return it to. If your child has a costume change or skirt/shoe change, we will be collecting them in class the week prior to organize prior to the event. We have lots of teachers and a few high school helpers backstage to assist. 

TUTU TOTS PARENTS
If your child is a Tutu Tot in this show, this info is just for you :)  With this age group, you have the option to accompany your dancer backstage. If you choose to watch from the audience, after they perform you will meet a teacher and the Tutu Tots back at the check in station to take your dancer to sit with you and watch the show from the audience (save them a seat!). Head back to dancer check in immediately after the last dance performs (Born for Adventure) to be taken back to line up for the finale bows :) 

BACKSTAGE ACTIVITIES
Once your child is checked in, they'll experience several fun activities backstage!  We have stations in the holding areas as well as on their way to the stage!  The entire time they'll be supervised by our teachers & High School Helpers who will work to ensure that dancers are both staying safe and having fun!  Some of the stations they'll experience are:  Bean bag toss, Simon Says, coloring, story time, tea party, practicing their bows and more!  

PHOTOS FROM CLASS & RECITAL VIDEOS
Photos from class will be uploaded to the Google Drive folder and sorted by class next week. After the performance videos are processed, they will be uploaded to the same folder. You are welcome to download, edit and share to your heart’s content, but don’t forget to tag us!

SAFETY REMINDERS
Here are our top 5 Reminders to help us keep it safe, fun and running smoothly on Saturday. 
1. Stay seated during performances and do not approach the stage. If you are close enough, the kids can see you and approach the edge of the stage to go to you without seeing that it drops off. Additionally, it disrupts the performance onstage. 
2. Please do not pass the check-in/drop-off area between acts and only bring one adult to drop-off your child. If you need something please text the Lake Mary number (407-333-8069) and a staff member will answer you as soon as possible. 
3. Although there is a bathroom in the backstage area, please try to have your child use the bathroom before coming back. Potty trains can hold up transitions between dances. 
4. We do our best to spread the age groups out to keep it entertaining and fun for the audience. For our new dance families, please be on time and applaud all performances. The dancers are here to gain confidence, as well as, learn to have great sportsmanship for their peers. These dancers range from 2-13 years old and each has practiced very hard!
5. Have fun! Dance Recital is meant to be a fun experience for everyone and to reward the dancers for their hard work over the last few months. We are so proud of every single child who gets on the stage and hope to see their confidence soar!
