My Gym was born out of our passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. We delighted in seeing children's eyes light up for all those incredible milestones, from the tentative first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Sharing the parents’ excitement at their children’s accomplishments was the high point of our day.
Picture this: In 1983, three fitness enthusiasts—Yacov, Susi Sherman, and Bill Caplin—redefined children's fitness by blending dance, gymnastics, and athletics. That's the birth of My Gym! Their mission: create a space just for kids—no more sharing mom's or dad's gym, but My Gym. With backgrounds in dance, gymnastics, and athletics, they crafted a unique fitness curriculum focused on non-competitive skill building for ages 6 weeks to 14 years. Fast forward: Cory and Monique turned My Gym into a franchise sensation in 1994. The success was undeniable, growing from 100 kids to over 400 in a year. Now a global phenomenon, My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide.

For nearly 20 years, Gina Simmons has called West Orange home and she’s poured her heart into helping local children grow strong, confident, and full of joy. Before opening My Gym West Orange, Gina spent her life in the world of performance. She earned her BFA in Theatre from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music and enjoyed a vibrant career in show business, performing and teaching dance and theatre from high school through college and beyond. When she discovered My Gym, Gina found the perfect way to combine her love for movement, creativity, and children. Since opening her doors, she’s built a space that celebrates fun, fitness, and friendship; where every child can shine in their own spotlight. Now approaching her 20th year in Essex County, Gina continues to bring her passion, energy, and creativity to everything she does; whether she’s leading her awesome team, captaining her paddle tennis team, or cheering on her daughters. She’s deeply grateful for the opportunity to spend her days instilling confidence, joy, and a love of movement in the children of this community; a mission that continues to inspire her every single day.
Mr. Marquis grew up in Montclair, NJ, home of the Mounties! When he was in High School he was a Drum Major for 2 years and played the Trombone as well as Lacrosse. He graduated from TCNJ in 2013 with a degree in Political Science, and stayed in Wolfe 5 his freshman year! He’s also played Rugby and even got to study abroad in Italy for a semester (an experience he will always cherish). He loves working with kids and meeting new people so he knew My Gym would be a perfect match for him! When he’s not at My Gym he likes to exercise and on occasion he also like to practice Gymnastics as well as Dance. He has been dancing for over 20 years, since he was 5 years old. He has performed at NJPAC twice and has also won many awards in school talent shows and competitions.
My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide. And our awesome, fun teachers are the main reason behind that.
