My Gym was born out of our passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. We delighted in seeing children's eyes light up for all those incredible milestones, from the tentative first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Sharing the parents’ excitement at their children’s accomplishments was the high point of our day.

How We Started

Picture this: In 1983, three fitness enthusiasts—Yacov, Susi Sherman, and Bill Caplin—redefined children's fitness by blending dance, gymnastics, and athletics. That's the birth of My Gym! Their mission: create a space just for kids—no more sharing mom's or dad's gym, but My Gym. With backgrounds in dance, gymnastics, and athletics, they crafted a unique fitness curriculum focused on non-competitive skill building for ages 6 weeks to 14 years. Fast forward: Cory and Monique turned My Gym into a franchise sensation in 1994. The success was undeniable, growing from 100 kids to over 400 in a year. Now a global phenomenon, My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide.

Hi Hi How Do You Do?!

I am SO excited to bring My Gym fun to SW Portland! This is my second location, as I also own My Gym Sherwood. 
Dance and musical theater have always been a huge part of my life. I attended my local high school of the arts for musical theater and outside of school was on a competitive dance team. I was a dance major at Chapman University until an injury sidelined the hope of pursuing dance as a career. But I never lost my love for teaching dance and movement.

We lived in Southern California from 2017-2019, and I was looking for something fun for my 1-year-old and I to do together. We discovered My Gym. Attending class was the highlight of our week. I fell in love with the curriculum and community. I honestly credit My Gym classes with helping my late walker finally start to walk! It was wonderful to see how much she learned in class plus how she connected with the teachers and other kids. 
When we moved back to Oregon and realized there was not a local My Gym I decided to open one! My Gym Sherwood opened in 2021 and My Gym SW Portland in 2025. 

My wife, two awesome kids, and I live in Beaverton. When I'm not working, you'll likely find me exploring the many parks in the area with my family, volunteering at my kids' school, reading, and traveling to Disneyland or on a Disney cruise as often as possible!

Working with young children has been my dream job since I was a little girl! At 16 I graduated early and began my life as a teacher. I have worked in a variety of childcare settings and found that I truly connect with the Montessori philosophy, encouraging and supporting children to be independent and successful. My hope is that my students leave their time with me a lasting love for learning and confidence in their abilities! In my personal life I am a mom of 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 lizards, a bird, and multiple fish and shrimp. I love spending time in nature, reading, or doing creative activities with my daughter. My goal in this life is to spread kindness and make all feel accepted and valued.
