My Gym was born out of our passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. We delighted in seeing children's eyes light up for all those incredible milestones, from the tentative first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Sharing the parents’ excitement at their children’s accomplishments was the high point of our day.
Picture this: In 1983, three fitness enthusiasts—Yacov, Susi Sherman, and Bill Caplin—redefined children's fitness by blending dance, gymnastics, and athletics. That's the birth of My Gym! Their mission: create a space just for kids—no more sharing mom's or dad's gym, but My Gym. With backgrounds in dance, gymnastics, and athletics, they crafted a unique fitness curriculum focused on non-competitive skill building for ages 6 weeks to 14 years. Fast forward: Cory and Monique turned My Gym into a franchise sensation in 1994. The success was undeniable, growing from 100 kids to over 400 in a year. Now a global phenomenon, My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide.

Emma began her My Gym career as the manager of My Gym Pasadena in 2006. Under her leadership, the gym rose to the top grossing My Gym in the country. During her time at My Gym Pasadena she also worked as a Head Trainer for My Gym Corporate and has trained over 100 owners and managers from all over the world. In 2013, Emma accepted a position with My Gym Corporate under the Franchise Support Division. In 2018 Emma and her husband purchased the My Gym in Santa Clarita and she’s been successfully operating that location since then..
Maria has been part of the My Gym family since 2020, beginning in Maryland then continued to California, where she’s grown from instructor to assistant director to director. What she enjoys most about My Gym is the mix of creativity and connection; getting to build a space where kids can grow, parents can connect, and a team that feels like family. She loves finding new ways to make classes, camps, and events feel exciting and memorable, and takes pride in seeing both families and staff genuinely enjoy their time at My Gym Valencia.
Serena has been part of the My Gym Valencia team for several years and now serves as our Assistant Director. She is known for her loving energy, and genuine care for every child who walks through the doors. With a background in childcare, camp counseling, and event planning, she brings a natural ability to make each class engaging and fun. Serena loves helping children grow through active play and meaningful connections, and she’s always finding ways to make families feel at home. Outside the gym, Serena can usually be found at Disney, collecting all things cute, or spending time with her boyfriend, family, and friends.
Melissa has years of experience working with kids in various settings including babysitting, summer camps, and tutoring! As a kid, Melissa dabbled in gymnastics, dance, and even attended My Gym classes! When she isn't playing and teaching at My Gym, Melissa loves to read and spend time with her dogs! She is currently studying Sociology to expound upon her knowledge of people and group interactions!
Isabella brings warmth, patience, and positivity to every class she teaches. She grew up doing gymnastics and was even a My Gym Valencia kid herself, which makes her connection to our program extra special. Her calm, encouraging energy helps every child feel confident and cared for. When she’s not in the gym, Isabella loves staying active, exploring new adventures, and spending time with friends & family. No matter what she is up to, Isabella’s kindness and dedication shine through in everything she does.
