My Gym was born out of our passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. We delighted in seeing children's eyes light up for all those incredible milestones, from the tentative first steps to tumbling down soft mats. Sharing the parents’ excitement at their children’s accomplishments was the high point of our day.

How We Started

Picture this: In 1983, three fitness enthusiasts—Yacov, Susi Sherman, and Bill Caplin—redefined children's fitness by blending dance, gymnastics, and athletics. That's the birth of My Gym! Their mission: create a space just for kids—no more sharing mom's or dad's gym, but My Gym. With backgrounds in dance, gymnastics, and athletics, they crafted a unique fitness curriculum focused on non-competitive skill building for ages 6 weeks to 14 years. Fast forward: Cory and Monique turned My Gym into a franchise sensation in 1994. The success was undeniable, growing from 100 kids to over 400 in a year. Now a global phenomenon, My Gym is consistently ranked the #1 children's program worldwide.

Hello everyone! I'm Miss Pam. I have owned My Gym Long Beach with my family since 2002, and I've loved every minute of it! I started My Gym with my husband because we wanted to make a difference in the lives of our members, team, and community! Ever since I was young, I've had a strong passion for helping others. I took that passion and integrated it into every aspect of my life. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Psychology with a special emphasis on children. With my extensive background in gymnastics and competitive figure skating, I took my skills in fitness and child development and opened My Gym Long Beach where my number one goal is to make moments that matter with every family that passes through our doors!

Hey there! I'm Mr. Ruben, I'm one of the owners here at My Gym Long Beach. My family and I have been running our gym for over 19 years! I was born and raised right here in Long Beach, so I have a true understanding and sense of community. Which is why I decided to coach middle school and high school students for over 10 years. Socialization is an important aspect of a child's development, even a teenager's development at that! Bringing teams together truly helps to foster these social connections that make a lasting impact in the lives of today's society. I want to make a difference. I shop local and eat local to support the small businesses within our community. I really enjoy getting to know all of the families that come to the gym. I'm always socializing, being silly, and most of all caring for our members. I strive to make moments that matter every day - one family at a time.

Hello! I’m McKenna, the Assistant Director at My Gym LB. Growing up with a teacher as my mom, I developed a deep love for working with children and helping them grow and thrive in their development. In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and crafting.

Hi! I’m Mr. Corey! When I’m not at the gym, I’m usually diving into my studies in mathematics and physics. I’ve always loved the logic of a good puzzle, and I also have a deep passion for the arts, having spent years working as an actor on stage and screen. I love bringing that creativity to the gym, whether I'm dreaming up our next camp craft or planning one of our big events. I always aim to go above and beyond to make our celebrations feel like a one-of-a-kind experience for the kids. Whether we’re mastering a new skill or exploring a total gym transformation, my goal is to make every moment unforgettable!

Hey, I’m Coach Emmett! I love My Gym because it allows me to be silly and goofy all day long! It’s so important to pair learning with having fun, especially for young kids. I have always loved theater and doing odd sports, so the movement and theatrics of My Gym are something that I enjoy. Seeing the kids grow, learn new things, and have fun is really special!

Hey! I'm Angie! I am an Undergrad in Aerospace Engineering at CSULB. I love studying the bible, reading, and socializing. I grew up with a few siblings and many smaller cousins, which has taught me a lot of patience, responsibility, and a love for children. I hope I can one day be someone the kids feel safe around and look forward to seeing at My Gym.

I am a soccer player and have always loved coaching kids. Born and raised in Long Beach, I’ve always had a deep connection to this community. With over 10 years of experience working with children, I bring both passion and expertise to every interaction. My background in musical theater has shaped my energetic and engaging approach- something that truly shines through in my work. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and I’m currently completing my Master’s in Child Life. My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Child Life Specialist, supporting children and families in hospital settings through education, play, and emotional care. Being part of the My Gym family has been such a rewarding experience, and I love being able to combine my creativity, education, and heart for kids every day!

Hi, my name is Brad! I'm a Video Systems Technician at Disneyland Resort, and I get to help bring stories to life with video and projection. Some of my favorite projects have been working at the Royal Theatre at Fantasy Faire, supporting Rogers: The Musical at the Hyperion Theater, and helping create the stunning fireworks projections that light up Main Street and Sleeping Beauty Castle. It's exciting to know the work I do helps families see their favorite characters and stories in new, unforgettable ways. Outside of work, I love painting, design, exploring new foods around Southern California, and spending time with friends. I'm also an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community, where I value authenticity, body positivity, and collaboration. What motivates me most is seeing people smile when all the lights, sounds, and video come together-it's a reminder that a lit of technical magic can create memories that last forever!
